No! Not That Again - Please!
The article in today's newspaper really scared me. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to sleep at night. It is horrible to think that such a thing could happen. I'm trying desperately to think of a way to "get out of Dodge". I can't consider leaving America, 'cause I love this country too much. And yet the America I have always known is disappearing a little bit more everyday.
That darn news article has me in a tizzy. No, it's not that Hussein might become president, although that thought gives me conniptions. It certainly is not the fact that he has selected Biden as his running mate. If anything, that's a plus - so much for D.C. politics as usual.
The constant reminder of the loss I would feel if the Democrats were to win this election is not it either, although I hate the thought of them raising my taxes. They are even planning to tax the money I've saved for my kids by renewing the death tax, but that's not why I'm so antsy.
There are a bunch of things out there that should be the reason for my apprehension, but they aren't it. Yes, the Dems would pass their "Fairness Doctrine", an outrageous attempt at censoring opposing points of view, but that's not it. It's also not the ongoing war in Afghanistan, the threat from Iran, the bold invasion of Georgia by Russia, or even a possible future conflict with China.
It is not the fear I have of the looney leftists who keep preventing us from becoming oil-independent and who insist on having us remain vulnerable to our enemies. It really does drive me nuts to know that those 1960's burn-outs who have been against anything that resembles patriotism remain more concerned with spotted owls, global warming and removing God from our lives than helping their country to survive and to prosper.
And that's what got me so worried this morning. The article in my newspaper was all about how the "protest songs' of the 1960's and 70's are coming back again.
The virus within us has reawakened and is beginning to replicate itself. I thought the un-American disease was in remission. I had hoped that, surely, after all of these years, a certain amount of healing had been occurring, albeit very slowly. OMG! I don't know if I'll be able to go through that again. They're back!
God help us, and God bless America

The Bully in Iran
Mahmoud Amadinejad, the President of Iran has threatened the state of Israel with total annihilation. He also threatens the entire world with his belief that his beloved 12th Imam will return only if there is a "new" holocaust. To help himself attain his goals, he is busy producing materials for nuclear weapons. All efforts to rein in this bully by the United Nations and ongoing negotiations continue to fail. Like all bullies, he relies on his ability to frighten people. Our country used to know how to handle bullies.
The 1974 oil embargo by Iran was our very first clue that Iran had declared war on the USA. In 1979 they took 52 Americans as hostages. Despite all of our efforts, which included a disastrous rescue attempt, those Americans were held for 444 days. The efforts by the UN were ineffectual, as was President Carter's method of friendly appeals and negotiations. Even at that early time, Iran's attempt at bullying was working very well. There we were, the USA, the strongest, free nation in the world, unable to save our own people.
Do you remember how and when they were finally released by Iran? It was while President Reagan was being inaugurated. Bullies know immediately when they are faced with a leader who will not put up with their behavior for one more second! That's how you stop a bully - you make him more frightened of you. Let's hope that we elect a president with the same knowledge and courage.
The assumptive candidate for the Democrat Party, B.H. Obama wants to deal with Iran, the bully, in the same way President Carter did. A pattern similar to 1979 exists today, but this time it is the free nation of Israel that is being held hostage. If by chance Obama were to be elected, Israel would be in a very difficult position. They remember the weak response of Pres. Carter in 1979. They will be in a similar situation as our 52 hostages were then. This time they would be on their own without a strong American president - maybe even lost.
Obama has indicated that he will use the same failed approach as those of Pres. Carter. His idea of negotiating with the Iran regime indicates a serious lack of knowledge, history and judgment. What concessions would he be prepared to make to an apparent irrational Iranian leader? Will he give up Israel to Amadinejad? Does he know that is Iran's major demand in any negotiation? They have been seeking Israel's destruction for 60 years! Does this potential American president understand Iran's pursuit of a new Persian Empire? Does he know how determined Amadinejad is? He wants to be the Persian leader who brings back the 12th Imam. Does he know the only way to stop a bully?
Get ready to vote America! It's really about our country's and Israel's survival this time. We need a president who has the guts to teach that phony little Iranian bully how to say, "Shock and Awe".

Peace and Pistachio Nuts
Before the Iranian revolution in the 1970's, one of my most enjoyable treats was eating Iranian pistachio nuts. They are the best in the world. Well, it's been a long wait, but I believe that it won't be long before I get to taste them again.
The people in those nations who have bad leaders are always helpless in times of war. If their country's regime is hell-bent on the destruction of another nation, it will require some intervention. Strong and peaceful nations like Israel and the USA will have to, once again, do the work of freeing a country's population from tyrants and bullies.
If the Iranian people, who are some of the world's best educated, hard-working, and peaceful people don't free themselves from their radical political and religious leaders, it is they who will suffer. In previous wars, it was not the Japanese leaders who were killed by bombs, it was the Japanese people. Germans, who loved their country saw it destroyed while their radical leaders enjoyed safe havens where they were able to enjoy themselves while their people died.
In countries like that, it is the people who create this danger for themselves, by electing and tolerating radical leaders. Obsessed despots and religious zealots want to fight wars and destroy others who believe differently. Ordinary people want a peaceful existence, but don't understand that it is THEY who must lead the way! By allowing the current regime to lead them into destruction, the Iranian people have only themselves to blame.
I am hopeful that the Iranian people will think and act appropriately in these next few months. I pray that they will chose a more peaceful and sensible ideology. If they choose to keep these extremists in power, their future will hold much suffering. Soon, the free nations of the world, who feel threatened by Iranian leaders must do what all frightened people end up doing. They will have to strike out, and it is the people of that fine country who will see the fires, the blood, the devastation.
The choice for the Iranian people seems very clear. Get rid of the current regime or face what is heading your way - "Shock and Awe". There go the pistachio nuts!
God bless America.
